# Installation of a M4L device

## **External Location**

You just drag it from your **Finder** or **Windows Explorer** into a track and go.

However, make sure that the file of the KeySwitch & Expression Map is stored well on your hard drive and you cannot delete it accidentally because it has been still in the dowload folder, for example.

## Ableton's User Library

Alternatively, you can copy the file in the **User Library** of Ableton. Like this you have direct access to it in the category *Max For Live / Max MIDI Effect* of the **Ableton Browser**.

These are the paths of the User Library:

- ***Windows:** \\Users\\\[username\]\\Documents\\Ableton\\User Library\\Presets\\MIDI Effects\\Max MIDI Effect*
- ***Mac:** Macintosh HD/Users/\[username\]/Music/Ableton/User Library …*
