It works with Ableton 10 and 11.

Generally, it is also compatible with Ableton 9, but there are some bugs or functions missing you should be aware of. Please check the technical req<\/a>uirements<\/a> for details.

The KeySwitch & Expression Map is a Max For Live device. Max For Live is part of the Ableton Live Suite. If you use Ableton Live Standard you might have to buy an add-on license to use this device. Ableton Live Lite and Intro do not support Max For Live! Please find more information here:

The KeySwitch & Expression Map works out of the box with Kontakt<\/a>, SINE Player<\/a>, VSL Synchron Player<\/a>, Vienna Instruments Player<\/a>, East West’s Opus<\/a> or Play<\/a>, Spitfire<\/a> and all other players that allow you to control articulations with MIDI notes, CCs, Program Changes, Bank (CC0) or Sub Bank (CC32).

You can also control Ableton’s ready-made Multi Articulation Racks Packs<\/a> (e.g. ProjectSAM Orchestral Ensemble Essentials Pack<\/em>).<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Yes, you can! With the help of an instrument rack<\/a>, you can create your own articulation patches for Ableton’s instruments or third-party VST plugins that do not provide key switches. Of course, this also applies to the effect racks in order to switch between effects.

Furthermore, you can define Bank, Sub Bank or Program Changes for your key switches to remotely control presets from external instruments<\/a> like keyboards, synthesizers or drum pads.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

No, the KeySwitch & Expression Map has a normal user interface like any other device in Ableton.

You just drag it from your Finder or Windows Explorer into a track and go.

Alternatively, you can copy the file as well in the User Library<\/strong> of Ableton. Like this you have direct access to it in the category Max For Live \/ Max MIDI Effect<\/em> of the Ableton Browser<\/strong>.

The KeySwitch & Expression Map itself has no latency. However, to automate your key switches when composing with envelopes, you should define delays to use Ableton\u2019s Chase MIDI Notes option. The resulting latency is automatically corrected by Ableton\u2019s Delay Compensation, as with other devices, or you can set it manually in the Track Delay Section.
